Your day begins with a comfortable drive out of Saigon, watching the city slowly fade into open fields, fruit farms, and quiet countryside. As you travel toward My Tho, your guide shares stories about life in the Mekong Delta—its traditions, its people, and the river that shapes everything here.
Your first stop is the beautiful Vinh Trang Pagoda, a peaceful sanctuary surrounded by gardens, bonsai trees, and towering Buddha statues. Wander through its courtyards, admire the blend of Vietnamese, Khmer, and Chinese architecture, and enjoy a moment of calm before heading to the river.
Board your boat and begin cruising along the wide, gentle waters of the Mekong River. The breeze, the river views, and the slow pace of life instantly set the tone for the day. As you approach Thoi Son Island, you’ll see small boats, coconut palms, and families going about their daily routines along the riverbanks.
On the island, visit a small family farm where you’ll be welcomed with honey tea, tropical fruits, and homemade snacks. This is a chance to meet local residents, learn about their beekeeping traditions, and enjoy simple, authentic flavors that reflect life in the Delta.
Continue to a tiny workshop where sticky rice wine is made in small batches. Taste this sweet, fragrant drink and hear how families have passed down the recipe through generations. It’s a fun, lighthearted stop that gives you a glimpse into local craftsmanship.
Your boat then heads deeper into the Delta toward Ben Tre, known as the “land of coconuts.” The scenery becomes greener and quieter as you enter a maze of smaller waterways. Sip fresh coconut water straight from the shell and enjoy seasonal fruits grown right on the islands.
Switch to a traditional sampan and glide through the narrow, shaded canals of Xep. This peaceful ride is one of the most iconic experiences in the Mekong Delta. Coconut palms arch overhead, the water is calm, and the only sounds are the gentle splash of the oar and birds in the trees.
Back on land, take a leisurely walk through a local village. See how families make a living, observe daily routines, and enjoy the warm hospitality that the Mekong is known for. You’ll pass fruit gardens, small homes, and quiet pathways that show a different side of Vietnam.
Hop on a tuk‑tuk and ride through the village to a family‑run coconut candy workshop. Watch the entire process—from caramelizing the coconut to cutting and wrapping each piece by hand. You can taste the candy fresh and even buy some to take home.
Relax at a charming riverside restaurant and enjoy a delicious lunch featuring Mekong specialties. Fresh ingredients, gentle river breezes, and a peaceful setting make this a perfect break in the middle of your day. It’s a moment to slow down and soak in the atmosphere.
After lunch, board your boat for a final cruise back to the pier. Enjoy the last views of the Delta before returning to Saigon, carrying with you a deeper appreciation for the culture, flavors, and everyday life of the Mekong River.
A gentle journey into the Mekong Delta’s quiet canals, coconut groves, and warm river communities — a slow, scenic escape into the everyday life of southern Vietnam.
